New 2011 Fashion Trends that are “Springing” Up Everywhere!

3 Feb

As we all know trends usually are a mix of the old and the new, and this year is no exception. Keep in mind with these upcoming styles that they are not all for you. Looking at the trends and molding them to keep in sync with your personal style is what fashion is all about. So take these following “key looks” with a grain of salt and think about what compliments you and your lifestyle/body.

Firstly, the color for this season is honeysuckle. It is a beautiful shade, almost a dusty rose with a hint of baby pink or a less purple fuchsia. It’s a beautiful color it compliments most skin tones, it is seen in decorating as well as in clothing choices.

The first style is 70’s glamour. The 70’s seem to stay on trend in one way or another. This season the elements are 70’s glamour and bohemian. This means super blousy sheer tops, floor length high waisted denim trousers (elongates the legs beyond belief!), headbands, floppy hats, thin belts, long cascading maxis and large glamorous jewels!

Nautral tones with a skinny belt and a great bag

Biker/hardcore is the next look that is coming out, we saw this a couple seasons ago with the leather biker jackets but has always played awkward stepsister to the military trend. However this year the biker jacket is back and bigger than ever, some are seen belted, quilted, or side zipped. They are ultra flattering for most body types. Other elements of this trend are the boots, pants, themed skirts, and zippered sleeves. Punk is also influencing our trends, not so much as last season, but it is adding a little more rock to our pieces. Studs, zippers, clunky boots, and safety pins are something to look for if you are interested in carrying out this trend.

A take on the Punk trend

Lady in the 60’s is one of my favorite trends that have been revamped for this season. This trend looks amazing on most of us with a body! This look encompasses sheath dresses cut at the knee, circle skirts, fresh fun colors and prints, full skirts, school teacher calf length skirts, headbands, and a good structured bag. The whole idea is to enhance your silhouette making you look super feminine while at the same time maintaining a classy appearance.

Some other little tidbits to look for are sheer maxis, lace, tassels, crochet, bell bottoms, wide leg pants, tail hems (cut longer in the back then the front) stripes, jumpsuits, and crop tops.

For my personal style some of these things will not be seen on my body ever, however; some people look good in crop tops or crochet blouses. In any case, take these styles and do with them what you will, most of them will flatter a wide range of figures. If you would like any help, advice or questions on how to style these, let me know and I will be more than happy to do that for you.

Hello Beauties!

So I am slowly exploring the world of video blogging. I have an account as stated previously that I use mainly for hauls, outfit of the days, beauty tips, and some new things to come! I have one outfit post for you all, my clothes have not been anything stupendous, I haven’t had time to go clothes shopping, and my weight has been fluctuating quite a bit due to a sick stint I went through…YUCK! However, I did get quite a few comments on this outfit and I also felt very sassy and fashion-esque.

Trying to layer, wear a dress and still be cute!

I just finished watching an amazing movie entitled “Easy Virtue.” This movie has Jessica Beil, Ben Barnes and Kristin Scott Thomas as the leads. The story is about a headstrong American woman racecar driver with a troubled past who spontaneously marries a wealthy Englishman. He takes her to his childhood home to meet his family where she is shown a cold reception by everyone but his misfit father. The ending is very interesting and it is hilarious to see how her brashness and disregard for English “niceties” throws his scheming mother more and more off her game.

I know I don’t normally do movie reviews however, the reason I loved this movie was because it was so reminiscent of the CoCo Chanel story, but less played. The bright red lipstick, taboo platinum blond hair, wide leg trousers, billowy blouses, and wonderful hats made this movie a classic fashion admirer’s dream. The stylist absolutely took advantage of this being the time Chanel started to come into her own with the men’s wear and jersey knits.

I hope you get a chance to watch it!

Look at that lipstick and scarf!

Happy New Year Beauties!

The ladies of the evening!

With work starting back up, trying to reorganize our house, start our fitness regime and blogging for a certain store (details to come) my life has been a little nuts. So I am sorry for not being totally consistent with my posts.  Not much has happened in the way of life, I choose not to make resolutions for the New Year, rather, mental notes to do better at things I have gotten mad at myself for in the past! Less disappointing! I have an outfit post for you though! See I managed to do one thing in the jumble of the new month!

Red lipstick and loose waves for NYE with my new Fur Coat!

As you can see I am being very “Fashionista-esque” by forgetting to put on my black 4 inch stilettos …..not. Now to the good stuff, the blazer is vintage Hillard and Hanson (gift), top is BeBe (13.95 consignment), skinnies are F21 ($9.50), and the shoes I was wearing were Charlotte Russe ($20.00), with a cuff from Lia Sophia ($12.95 consignment), and necklace from Target ($14.00). I love my blazer, it goes with anything and classes up any outfit. I knew I was going to be eating and drinking a little more than the normal house visit sooo… I went with a pleated baby doll, which is a little outdated but I wanted to be festive!

At least my socks matched!!

Now with my outfit post I am wearing an Anne Taylor Dress (gift) , Kmomo tights ($4), Old navy layering black shirt($2.50 sale) (under the dress)  , SO dress worn as a cover (gift), Fossil belt (gift), thrifted necklaces, and boots so old I can’t remember where they are from (gift from hubby)!!This outfit was a hit with the ladies at school today! We had a full conversation about it, which is my secret goal, whenever they don’t know what to wear, for me to pop in their head as the go to girl for fashion, shopping, and style!!! Mua ha ha….alright dramatic but you get it. I am getting a little more creative and branching out with my style, it will be nice to see the documentation as my style changes this year! Well beauties, until next time.

The beauty!

Today was an amazing thrift day, despite the -15 degree weather. I went with one of my girlfriends and introduced her to two shops she has yet to be to in our tiny little town. She found a beautiful never worn Banana Republic blouse that will looked amazing on her with some cute pearls, talk about Stepford! Plus,  I found some rather amazing things myself. At our first venue I found a string of faux pearls that look like the real thing and a woven light brown belt. (Which I have been looking for forever) This was the consignment shop that I love-ish (I was spoiled by my favorite consignment shop SMARTgirls so my standards are pretty high). Then we went to a charity thrift store, here we found her blouse, a vintage mustard cable knit sweater $2.00, BCBGMaxazria Jeans $ 2.00 (originally $145), and duh-duh-duh-duh a vintage faux fur coat with silk lining in mint condition for….drum roll please….$6.00. I am so excited, it is more casual than most vintage coats, and I live in a place, as stated previously, that gets to -15….’nuff said. Here are pictures of my wonderful finds!

My goodies!!

The label in the coat

I had a blast! A lady that was next to us showed me another vintage coat with a trench tie and a real fur detachable collar, but it wasn’t in as good of condition, so I had to choose.  Even though that one probably costs quite a bit more it still would have needed a little bit more TLC then I was ready to commit to, so I went with the beautiful chocolate faux fur which fits like a glove!

I did want to put in an outfit post. The grey vest and the jeans, boots, etc concludes the outfit I wore to the stores, obviously I put on the vintage sweater later on in the day after washing it, which is when I took the picture J. Well I hope you all are having relaxing last days of 2010! Have a wonderful rest of the year beauties!

LOVE THIS SWEATER, it was a glasses kinda day 🙂

First Outfit Post

28 Dec

I wore this on casual friday, I work in a kindergarten room!

I am deciding to do an outfit post today, it is my first true outfit inspired piece so be kind! This first ensemble was worn to my kindergarten room on casual Friday. It is a FoxCroft blue plaid blouse with ruffled button line, Ann Taylor oversized sweater (my favorite), Report nude wedges, and F21 dark wash skinnies. The blouse, sweater, shoes, and my silver heart necklace were all from consignment shops or thrifted, which made this outfit comfortable, cute, and affordable. The picture doesn’t do it justice but cut the old girl some slack; I’m just getting warmed up!

Shopping Date with the Hubby

My second outfit was from a shopping date with the hubby. It consists of a PacSun Tank (bought on mega sale), Weavers sweater (consigned), a belt from another shirt, Rue21 Jeans (mega sale), and Blowfish boots gifted by the hubby.  Horrendous hair day I might add, if anyone has any tips for “lazy girl hair styling tips,” please let me know. I will spend all day on clothes but my hair that is a different story. Now back to the main objective here, this outfit was super forgiving, comfortable, and cute! I loved it, we had about a foot of snow outside and the boots were a must! Even thought the weather is ugly it doesn’t mean your outfits have to be! I have been checking out other websites and I am liking what I see, there is so much inspiration on the web these days. Speaking of inspiration, I am reading a new book called “Smart Cookies” it’s about managing your money and is a very interesting yet easy read; I will let you know how it goes later on in the chapters. Well I hope you have a wonderful day beauties! Enjoy your time off! I know I am!
